Calculating Your Kua Number

The first thing to do is to check your birth date against the Chinese calendar to make sure that you are using the correct Chinese year of birth. If you were born before the first week of February, you might have to use the previous year as your point of reference. Accuracy is of utmost importance when employing the rules of this formula, so make sure that you get your Chinese year of birth right before you begin the actual calculations. One single year makes a whole lot of difference in the calculation, and in turn, your personalized Feng Shui guidelines.

After you have established your Chinese year of birth, refer to the following table for a step-by-step guide in calculating your personal Kua Number. Note that males and females have to use different formulas for calculation.

***********************************************

FOR MALES

  • Determine your Chinese year of birth.
  • Add the last two digits together.
  • Reduce it to a single digit number.
  • Subtract from 10.
  • The final answer is your personal Kua Number.

Example year of birth 1963.
6 + 3 = 9
10 - 9 = 1

So, men born in 1963, your Kua Number is 1.

FOR FEMALES

  • Determine your Chinese year of birth.
  • Add the last two digits together.
  • Reduce it to a single digit number.
  • Add to 5.
  • The final answer is your personal Kua Number

Example year of birth 1971.
7 + 1 = 8
8 + 5 = 13
1 + 3 = 4

So, women born in 1971, your Kua Number is 4
